Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 離家十六年的陳家輝（陳坤 飾）在得知父親陳為民（王勁松 飾）病危后，重返故鄉。但父親未留下只言片語便匆匆離世。葬禮之后，陳家輝與哥哥陳家興（王硯輝 飾）、姐姐陳家媛（劉敏濤 飾）在整理父親遺物時，逐漸察覺父親身上似乎隱藏著許多不為人知的秘密。帶著困惑與心結，陳家輝開始探尋父親生前的生活軌跡，試圖拼湊出父親真實的模樣。在這個過程中，一段埋藏了16年的家庭秘密逐漸被揭開，而這個秘密的核心，正是家輝與父親之間一生都未能解開的那個結。
