Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.  故事發生在1977年2月8日，圍繞一名44歲的前房地產開發商Tony Kiritsis展開。他用槍劫持了貸款公司總裁Richard O. Hall，并在其身上綁了一個“死亡開關”，以此脅迫這位總裁在幾近零度的天氣里當著警察和記者的面穿過市中心的街道。

　　高中生瑞科（卡斯帕?凡?迪恩 Casper Van Dien 飾）畢業后，在女友卡門（丹妮絲?理查茲 Denise Richards 飾）的鼓動下，違背了父親的意志，加入了機械化步兵學院，卡門亦加入了海軍學院。　　在他們參加訓練不久后，地球遭到了來自外星球的昆蟲襲擊。瑞科的親人均慘遭殺害，卡門將拍攝到的影像傳送給了瑞科。悲憤交加的瑞科率領部下投入到了對抗外星昆蟲的戰斗中。　　然而，軍隊低估了這些昆蟲的實力。在一次遭遇戰中，10萬軍隊慘遭殺戮，只剩瑞科、卡門等幾人僥幸逃生。瑞科親眼目睹了恐怖的殺戮場面，意外獲知了這些昆蟲變得如此聰明、強大的秘密。瑞科意識到必須制造更先進的武器才能對付這些昆蟲，人類的反擊開始了！
