　　擅長畫畫的高中生真城最高（佐藤健 飾）有一天被頭腦靈光的同學高木秋人（神木隆之介 飾）纏上。對方自稱超級喜歡漫畫，可卻沒有繪畫才能，秋人希望和最高搭檔進軍漫畫界。最高的叔叔川口太郎（宮藤官九郎 飾）曾是小有名氣的漫畫家，但因過勞和連載被砍最終英年早逝，這讓青年深知這一行的殘酷性。經不住秋人的慫恿，最高終于就范。兩人選擇自薦的方式將目標鎖定在集英社旗下的殿堂級周刊《JUMP》上，并初步得到了編輯服部哲（山田孝之 飾）的認可。與此同時，天才高中生新妻英二（染谷將太 飾）橫空出世，促使兩個人不顧一切地要與之一較高低。不知不覺中，他們已經踏入了這個瑰麗精彩卻又殘酷萬分的漫畫世界……　　本片根據創作了超人氣漫畫《死亡筆記》的大場鶇（原作）、小畑健（作畫）的同名漫畫改編。

　　Following her mother’s death, manga artist Soriya travels to her ancestral home in Phnom Penh, with hopes of reconnecting with her distant family and using the visit as inspiration for her work. All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
