22歲的純子是個平凡無奇的白領，她打扮土氣，聽從母親的教誨，愛好是讀書和在公園散步。這天，純子在涉谷街頭突然被人搭訕：;你享受你的人生么？你不覺得變成別的什么人會很有趣么？;就這樣，純子被;星探拉進了專拍iV的事務所。在拍攝現場，純子覺得和男演員們拍床戲雖然嚇人但挺新鮮的。藝名叫露露的她戴上金色的假發，穿上萌系少女服裝，仿佛變成了另一個人。露露在片場認識了同一事務所的前輩綾乃。綾乃曾經是個小太妹，性格與露露完全相反，但她卻偏偏放不下這個不諳世情、羅里吧嗦的后輩。露露打出了人氣，但麻煩也接踵而來：有跟蹤狂纏上了她，她演iV的事情在公司曝光，事務所的社長打算要她演羞辱類的片子。覺得走投無路的露露來到了綾乃的家 某天，一個iV女優自殺了，一旦失去人氣就成了棄子，這就是殘酷的現實。而這樣的現實也降臨到了露露身上

All goes well initially. Renting an apartment in Metta, a rundown Khmer Rouge-era housing complex, her visit to her maternal relatives finds her welcomed with open arms. But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
