這是一個以80年代的新奧爾良為背景的真人真事。英俊的年輕人桑尼(詹姆斯 弗蘭克飾)剛剛被軍隊除名。因為他的家庭背景和經歷都極其特殊。桑尼的母親珠兒(布蘭達布萊辛飾)是新奧爾良人人皆知的妓院老板娘，在日漸沒落之后，她幻想把很多老女人都青眼有加的兒子，塑造成妓院里的招牌明星。 桑尼在參軍之前，就已經是當地有名的男妓了。桑尼為了擺脫這種墮落的生活報名參軍，離開了母親。但是被軍隊除名之后，無處可去的桑尼只好又回到了新奧爾良，他想找一份正當的工作養活自己，擺脫母親從而離開那個令人羞恥的行業。但是母親一心要讓桑尼繼承自己的事業。與此同時在痛苦和矛盾中苦苦掙扎的桑尼，愛上了妓院里新來的姑娘卡洛爾(米娜 蘇瓦里飾)。他必須做出選擇：留下來按照母親的要求生活，或者為了自己的尊嚴和愛情站出來勇敢抗爭

Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
